Thousands of pieces of personal data are bought, sold, traded and misused online each day. Social Security Numbers, Social Insurance Numbers, credit and debit card information, bank account numbers and more are in high demand by criminals at home and abroad.

SpotMyID is an advanced web-based application designed to catch this online trade and its associated fraud before severe damage is done.

Here's how it works:

After registering for SpotMyID, each user creates a unique profile including the specific information or cards to be monitored – credit cards, debit cards, bank cards, store cards, SSN/SIN and more. This information is encrypted and stored securely.

From this point, SpotMyID scans the Internet for the use of any of this personal information. SpotMyID pays particular attention to online sources where fraud-related data is found, traded and sold, including:

  • Websites providing credit card information or providing links to those that do
  • Chat rooms where criminals share personal information
  • Forums where fraud and identity theft are discussed
  • Online “flea markets” where identities are bought and sold
  • FTP sites (sometimes called “black hat”) and usenet postings including card numbers

If a SpotMyID user's personal information is spotted at any time, it is a strong indication that an identity breach has occurred or is highly likely to occur.

If SpotMyID spots potentially compromised information, the user is sent an “On The Spot” email alert. The alert notifies the user of the breach and will direct him or her to log into the Account Manager for more information on what specific action should be taken.

Let's say SpotMyID discovers your credit card is listed in a suspect location. You will receive an alert that same day, notifying you of the danger of fraud. If you then log into your personal Account Manager, you'll find the information you need. SpotMyID will likely suggest, for example, that you contact your credit card company and cancel your card*. If you do this right away, you may be able to stop the breach before any unauthorized charges are made! Without SpotMyID, you might not realize the problem until you receive your credit card statement or even later.

* Note: SpotMyID offers easily accessible information and knowledgeable customer support staff to guide users through the steps to take after an identity breach. However, it is up to the affected individual to contact the necessary agencies and take the action required. This is for the security of our users.

Registering your account

Registering for SpotMyID is simple!

Step 1: Enter your e-mail address. Ensure it is valid! This will be your SpotMyID username; you will also receive all future correspondence at this address 

Step 2: Fill in your contact information and choose your SpotMyID package: FREE 2-pack, 5-pack, or 10-pack. Enter your credit card information (this is for identification purposes; FREE customers will not be charged)

Step 3: Set up your profile and enter the credit cards, debit cards, bank accounts, SSN or SIN that you want SpotMyID to monitor

And you’re done!

Once registered with SpotMyID, you can log in to your Account Manager at any time to make changes to your account or to view the status of your identification and cards being monitored. Your Account Manager also holds a wealth of information and resources to guide you if you receive an identity alert.
